Preparing for Flu Season

We have all certainly heard a lot about the flu this year and with good reason! With H1N1, or “swine flu,” causing illness and concern across the country, there has been a lot of media attention on how individuals can protect themselves and their families from this virus. That threat, combined with the approaching outbreak of seasonal flu, presents the possibility that many people in our community could become sick with one or both strains of the flu.
At Carolina Collegiate, we are here to serve you, our members. To us, that means looking out for your financial interests and providing you with the best service possible. But it also means making sure we are here when you need us. Just like other businesses, financial institutions have to think about the impact a widespread flu outbreak could have on the services that we provide. To that end, we have taken steps to inform our staff on how to protect their health and minimize the spread of the flu virus. We also encourage you, our members, to learn what you need to know to protect your health.
The following basic steps are a good start in preventing the flu:
·        Wash your hands often with warm soapy water (or use hand sanitizers).
·        Cover your mouth and nose with your sleeve when you cough or sneeze.
·        Consider getting vaccinated for seasonal flu and H1N1.
Each of these steps will help to limit the spread of the flu virus in our community and help to keep you and your family healthy. But, if you do get sick…stay home until you are feeling better. That is the best way to limit the spread of germs in the community.
More information on the flu and how to prevent it can be found at www.flu.gov. Specific information on South Carolina’s flu preparedness and response is available at www.scdhec.gov/flu.
At Carolina Collegiate, we are here for you, and we pledge to provide the service that you expect. Rest assured that we have taken steps to address the continuity of our operations should a widespread flu outbreak occur. Like you, we hope that will not happen, but we are ready if it does!
